I feel like I wasted my thirties. Did I?
Almost certainly not, but you will not be able to see what those years bought you until you need it.
Wasted is a judgement made with today's information about decisions taken with far less.
The years I thought were a detour — satellite work I took because it paid — turned out to be the foundation for everything after. I could not have known that at the time and neither can you.
The only genuinely wasted year is the one spent auditing the previous ten.
You are further along than it feels.

Why does everyone my age seem further ahead?
I keep comparing myself to people ten years younger. How do I stop?
How do I find people who are where I am?
