Wasted is a judgement made with today's information about decisions taken with far less.

The years I thought were a detour, satellite work I took because it paid, turned out to be the foundation for everything after. I could not have known that at the time and neither can you.

The only genuinely wasted year is the one spent auditing the previous ten.
