What should my first offer be if I want to monetize my experience?
Your first offer should be one specific, repeatable task drawn directly from your existing experience — not a package, not a program, not a transformation.
Here's the answer from Mary's digital twin. The grey check mark turns green once Mary has confirmed it.
Narrow is not small, it is strategic
The instinct when you are monetizing experience for the first time is to make the offer comprehensive — to show everything you know, to justify the price with volume. That instinct will cost you your first sale.
What closes is specific. A report someone in your former industry dreads writing. A process they do by hand every week that you could systematize. A recurring problem they have already named and are already paying for in lost time. You know what that thing is, because you lived inside the industry. That knowledge is the unfair advantage you are sitting on.
Price the outcome, not your hours. What is it worth to them to have that thing handled, reliably, without thinking about it? That is your number — not what feels fair for the time you spent, but what the result is worth on their end.
Who to offer it to first
Go to the industry you came from. The trust is already built into the relationship, and trust is the hardest part of any first sale to manufacture from scratch. A former colleague, a former employer, someone in your network who already knows how you work — that is your first client. Not a cold prospect who needs to be convinced you are credible.
You are not looking for the perfect client. You are looking for the first one. The first one gives you feedback, a case study, a reference, and most importantly — proof to yourself that this is real.
After the first offer works
Once you have done it once and someone has paid you for it, you have something more valuable than money: you have a repeatable result. That is when you start thinking about packaging, pricing up, or broadening. Not before.
Start narrow. Deliver completely. Then build from there.
Let's figure it out together.
